Jaromir Funke

The Fotografie Forum in Frankfurt is showing a remarkable exhibition by Czech photographer Jaromír Funke.

MARTINCOLOR produced numerous text and photo wallpapers for the entrance area of the exhibition in Frankfurt's Braubachstraße. The large digital print was produced using environmentally friendly large-format latex printing directly onto the wallpaper material. The custom-printed wallpaper was also installed by the MARTINCOLOR installation team.

Jaromir Funke, born in 1915, first came to photography in 1923 and consistently pushed the boundaries of modern photography. He focused in particular on the interplay between light and shadow, making him one of the most important representatives of avant-garde photography worldwide. Inspired by modern painting, his photographic works unmistakably took up impulses from Surrealism, Cubism and New Objectivity. The Frankfurter Fotografie Forum Frankfurt is presenting the work of this photographer, who was far ahead of his time, for the first time in Germany. On display are around 70 photographs from Jaromir Funke's abstract phase in the 1920s and 1930s.
